John J. Angelotti Jr.-USMC

John Joseph Angelotti Jr., 75, of Lake Suzy, FL.  entered peacefully into rest at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center on January 7, 2019 with his loving wife by his side after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

John was born on July 7, 1943 to John, Sr. and Enzelma (Vannucci) Angelotti in Erie, Pennsylvania.  John graduated from Erie Tech Memorial High School and went on to enlist in the United State Marine Corps in August 1961. He served actively during his four-year enlistment, during which he served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in August 1965 and was awarded a USMC Good Conduct Medal.

After his years of service, John began his career in the trucking industry. He belonged to the Teamsters Local #397 and enjoyed the early years of his career working for Erie Trucking and Jones Motor. His love of trucking led him to found and operate his own company, Angelotti Cartage, Inc. in 1982. For a time he also owned J&L Auto with a PA vehicle inspection station.

In 1968 he met and later married his first wife Mary Lou and accepted her six children as his own and together they made their home in Erie, and then Conneautville, PA.   Sadly, Mary Lou passed away in 1996. In 1998, John still with much love in his heart met and later married his wife, Anneliese, being a man of integrity and kind heartedness accepted another young daughter to his family. The three made their home in Perrysburg, OH.

Outside of his career, John lived a vibrant life full of hobbies and activities. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter who participated in each year’s deer season as well as hunts out West with his sons and friends. For many years John also enjoyed participating in ATV poker runs and attending Nascar races.  Other interests included camping and travelling.  John was a member of the American Legion, Siebenbuerger Club, and the Moose Lodge.

Above all else, John enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever he could.

Those who knew John will always remember him as the man with the infectious smile, who loved his family and friends, never knew a stranger and loved by many.

John was preceded by his parents, John Sr and Enzelma; stepfather Daniel Marchini; his first wife, Mary Lou (Collins) Angelotti and their sons John Miczikus and Michael Miczikus. He was also preceded by his beloved dog and travel companion, Teddy.

Left to cherish his memory  are his wife Anneliese (Leiby) of Lake Suzy, FL , sister, Marsha (Richard) Crane of Wesely Chapel, FL. and  brother Daniel (Rosanne) Marchini of Erie, PA;  sons, Peter (Anne) Miczikus of Erie, PA; Philip (Tamara) Miczikus and Edward Miczikus, both of Conneautville, PA; daughters, Pamela Brusich of Erie PA, and Karly (Donald) Pahl-Hallett of Phoenix, AZ;  13 beautiful grandchildren and 15 adorable great-grandchildren  along with a new great grandchild he looked forward to meeting in May.

Ceremonies to celebrate his life and military services will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery on Tuesday January 22, 2019 at 11:30 AM. Military honors will be performed by active duty United States Marines and the Marine Corps League Detachment 588. Arrival at 11:00 AM is strongly encouraged.   All those who knew and loved John are invited to attend a Celebration of Life this spring in Erie, PA
