Loretta Merrell, 82, passed away Tuesday (July 23, 2019) at her residence in Wimauma, Florida.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on October 21, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Sisco Bowman and the late Melva McIntosh.
On September 13, 1954, she married Kenneth Merrell in West Liberty, Kentucky. After Kenneth’s service in the Air Force, they resided in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In 1965, they moved their family to South Florida.
She worked for the U.S. Postal service before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and being with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Merrell; two daughters, Teena Cone of Knoxville, TN; and Heidi Davis of West Palm Beach, FL; two brothers, Clinton Bowman of Ten Mile, TN; and Dave McIntosh of Jefferson, WI; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Merrell; great-grandson, Luke Merrell; two sisters, Leona Stapleton and Sue McIntosh: one brother, Arnold Bowman.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Boyette Springs Church of God, 12114 Boyette Road, Riverview, FL 33569. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM following the visitation. Burial will be at Lake Wimauma Memorial Gardens in WimaumaFL. There will be no procession. Friends and family wishing to go to the cemetery will meet directly there.
