Francis J. Weiss, 96, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at the Hospice Brookside facility. Palm Harbor, Florida. He was born in Adrian, Michigan.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was in the European Theater and received the Victory Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Battle Stars, two Overseas Service Bars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland.
Francis was a very devout Catholic and served as an Usher for the St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a supporter of Catholic Relief Services. He made a career out of working as an Insurance Agent for Allstate.
He was devoted to his family and friends. He loved the Tampa Bay Rays and enjoyed golfing, swimming, and all of the other amenities at Highland Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 66 years, Betty Jane Weiss. He leaves behind his cherished fiancée, Loraine Sendall, two sons: Christopher and William Weiss, two daughters: Susan Knox and Joanne Schultz, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted in his honor at 9:30am on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at St Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. It is located at 2757 Alderman Road, Palm Harbor, Florida 34684.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Adrian, MI at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church.
