Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho she was raised in Wisconsin. She was a good student, played flute and piano, enjoyed sports and friends. After graduating from high school, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps proudly serving for four years and earning her second stripe as a Corporal. She was awarded the Molly Marine award by her fellow recruits in boot camp as an example of the strengths embodied by the ideal Marine. While on active duty she earned several medals and awards including Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and Marksman Rifle Badge.
Jessie was stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia for most of her career as an administrative specialist for the Marine Tank Division. Following her military service Jessie attended the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point for a time. She then lived in Hong Kong for 2 years teaching bilingual preschool.
Jessie was a proud United States Marine. Donations in her memory are appreciated to the Women Marines Association at https://donation.womenmarines.org/donation
I had the pleasure of working with Cpl Manning in Fort Benning (Marine Corps Detachment).
Fair winds and following seas, Jessica. May God bless your family in this difficult time.

She will forever be one of my best friends. She taught everyone around her so much. Her heart will live on through us all!
I had the pleasure of knowing Jessie at Ft benning. My ex husband was stationed there. She was my best friend there. We would hang out all the time, go to bon fires, go out to eat. Her mom and her came over for thanksgiving and they watched football. She was an amazing person and friend. I’m going to miss her so much. I’m sorry we lost touch after I left. She holds a special place in my heart. I’m here if her family needs me. ❤️
I went to boot camp with Manning. She was such a beautiful human being. Just being in her presence made boot camp better and could cheer anyone up. She will be missed.
Jessie was a student of mine in Ashwaubenon High School band program.. I’ll always remember her infectious smile, positive attitude and warm personality. It was evident how much she was loved by her friends and family. I extend my deepest condolences to her family and friends. I pray that all who knew and loved her cherish the positive memories they have and grow to find peace.
I too, for a short duration had worked with Cpl. Jessica Manning at Fort Benning (Marine Corps Detachment). Though my time in service was not long, I did have the pleasure of working with Jessica through the work week for a few months. Jessica was a higher rank than me at the time. For those who are reading, I can say this: that Jessica was always very well respected by her superiors. I had interactions with every almost every Marine in that detachment, and for sure had interactions with every Marine that worked in that office building. Every time Jessica interacted with other Marines, she had treated them with respect, pride, and fellowship – and they gave it back. There was not one Marine who worked with Jessica that ever had anything bad to say about her. Her work ethic was unmatched and she was the perfect example of what every Marine should be. I am truthfully thankful for the opportunities that I had of being able to work with her. She set the standard, and led by example, as to what it means to be someone who is committed, dependable, and geared towards excellence – and she was revered because of it. As a young Marine at the time, the characteristics she displayed left a mark on me, and to this day, I try to mirror those characteristics in academia, and in my professional life.
To Jessica’s friends and family, I send my deepest condolences. I truly hope that you all hold your memories with her deep in your heart, and that you continue to tell others about her, and what kind of person she was.
Respectfully,
Andrew
