Mick (Clyde Norman Johnston (66) passed away with his children by his side on Monday, March 1, 2020.
He was born on May 3, 1953 to Clyde Sylis and Lorreta (Beatty) Johnston in Yakima, Washington whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Kelli Kilroy (Mark) Largo, FL, Kirk Johnston (Stacey) Clearwater, FL, one granddaughter Kenna Johnston and one grandson Johnston to arrive in June. Nancy Kirk Spangler (Robert) of Dunedin, FL is the mother of his children. His sisters, Annette Stephens, Barbara Bales, Joyce Johnston and Kathy Kulus, survive him. His brother Kenneth Monroe Johnston preceded him in death.
Mick grew up in the state of Washington where he loved the beauty of the
mountains, boating and fishing the waters for trout and Salmon. He lived in Normal, IL most of his life where his children were raised. He was an independent contractor, and would help his friends and neighbors when they called on him to give them a hand.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to Me”. He is gone, but will never be forgotten.
A time of gathering and celebration of life with some small plates and beverages will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 12pm-6pm. Please join us at 1641 Neva Dr, Largo, FL 33770 for those who wish to gather in memory of Mick. Please come if you are friends with Kirk or Kelli we would love to see you and share the day surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Kelli & Kirk,
Praying for you and your family at the passing of your father. I’m grateful for the years the Lord gave us to know each other and for the opportunity I had to be one of the ministers in your family’s life. Praying that you have a blessed service this weekend filled with wonderful stories that bring both tears and smiles.
God bless,
Pastor Brent Salm
Our condolences to all. Our beloved “Mick” who will be missed dearly.

R.I. P. Brother Mick.
Love Deb, Rose and Alison Johnston.
I am saddened by the loss of your father. Mick completed a large renovation and remodeling for our law office building. He was conscientious and dedicated. His work was the highest quality. Throughout the lengthy process of completion, he maintained a positive attitude and we fortunate to have had Mick as a contractor.
Please except our sincere condolences to you and your entire family. Mick Johnston was a contractor who did several projects in our home, but more importantly became a dear friend to us. Mick was dedicated to his customers, diligent in his work and consciousness to complete the project with high standards and professionalism. He was a true joy to be around and we had many great conversations with him. Fortunately, we are still in the same house after 26 years and we can still admire his work. On occasions we would run into him in the community. He had an infectious smile which would light up the room and before you knew it everyone around him would be smiling. Mick was a gifted contractor, hard worker and loyal friend. Wishing your family peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.
Nancy, Kelli, and Kirk,
My sympathies on the passing of Mick. I have some good memories of my time with all of you in Normal. It is interesting that I too now live in Florida.
May God’s grace bring you comfort.
Sincerely,
Mark Searby
Kelli, Kirk, and Nancy: Our sympathies are extended to you all. Your dad had the greatest smile. We enjoyed the times we shared as neighbors on Searle Dr. and watching you kids grow up. We hope life is good for you in Florida. With fond memories, Tudy and Barb
I met Mickey at USO in Rantoul and he socialized with our group.
I smile at the memory … sorry to learn of his passing.
