I wanted to take a moment and tell the family and friends of Mitch, how sorry I am for your loss. I learned of Mr. Alvins passing while searching him up today. Mr. Alvins was a great person and try favorite teacher. I was a photography student of his back at BSHS ’88 and I always looked forward to his class. I was just thinking of him today as I was going through my photographs and showing my kids some of the awards I received for my photography while at BSHS. I couldn’t have done it without his guidance. His insight of photography, became instrumental in my career and where I am today in my profession. Thank you Mr. Alvins for all your guidance and teaching your love of photography. You made a difference in my life.
I’m a teacher at Baldwin HS. When I started teaching there in September 1999, Mitch took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. He bent over backwards to help me, stopping just short of teaching my classes for me. I’ve never forgotten his kindness and his willingness to share his knowledge. The photography shop he created was an extension of himself, and I was happy to be a part of it.
My condolences to Mitch’s family, especially Whitney and Chase who were in school with me. I’m sorry for your loss.
To the family. I am so sorry for your loss. I only met Mitch a few years ago at our Vietnam veterans reunion. I enjoyed chatting with him and getting to know him.
My condolences,
