Eileen Edna Peters (Miley) was born December 24, 1926 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI to Otha and Edna (Wenger) Miley. In 1933, the family moved to Wisconsin Rapids to live with Ernest (her mom’s brother). Eileen went to a different primary school about every year growing up. Her father decided to move to Ohio to be with his family when she was in the 6th grade. They moved back to Wisconsin by 7th grade. When WWII came in her junior year of high school, she and her family moved to Toledo, Ohio but they went back to Milwaukee where she graduated from high school.
Eileen attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO from 1947-1950. She majored in Bible Studies. She asked Jesus into her heart at the age of 9 at Wisconsin Rapids Assembly of God. She was a Proverbs 31 woman (wife, mother, and “grammy”), and a mighty prayer warrior. She always felt so blessed that her 4 children, their spouses, and all her grandchildren are serving the Lord.
Eileen liked to keep busy. She started working at the age of 16 at Woolworth’s. She then worked at Schusters department store. When she returned to Milwaukee from college, she worked at Golla Comptometers Services until she took a payroll position at AC Spark Plug. In 1952, she and her parents moved to Miami, FL. Eileen took a position to do payroll for Southern Dairy. In June 1952, she moved back to Milwaukee where she returned to AC Spark Plug doing auditing.
When Eileen returned to Milwaukee, she was reunited with her college friend Sally, and she met her future husband, Bernhard (Ben) Peters. Ben gave his sweetheart an engagement ring on Valentine’s Day in 1957 and they were married in September 1957. Eileen continued to work after they were married until she was six months pregnant with their first daughter and the company made her leave. They had 3 more children in a 5 year time period which kept her very busy. Around 1968, she became the church secretary until the family built a new home and moved out of the city to New Berlin, WI. In 1973 she started working at Wisconsin Electric in purchasing & control. She retired in 1986 when they moved to Florida.
She loved spending time with family, Gaither music, sewing, cooking & baking, reading the Word, praying & singing hymns, and was a soduku & crossword puzzle whiz.
