Robert David Terry, 72, of Largo, Florida passed away at his home on May 18, 2020. Bob was born on 12/20/1947 in Pontiac Michigan. Bob’s life included military service with the US Army during the Vietnam war, earning a degree in auto repair, working on the assembly lines in Michigan and becoming a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
On Monday at 11:47am, a 32-year-old love story ended…. Bob met his beautiful wife Connie on November 17, 1987 and they instantly fell in love. Understanding that Connie already had two small children, it didn’t matter to Bob as he was ready to fill the void the little girls needed in their life as a father. Married that following year on 12/19/1988, he became an integral part of this new family. Raising the girls until graduation in Michigan, they decided to move from Mt. Morris, Michigan to Sylvania, Georgia in 1999. Reminiscent of his memories growing up the summers in Tennessee, his dream was to live simpler and more off the land. Ultimately in 2009, leaving this dream and moving to Largo, Florida, because being so far away from their girls and grandchildren was just too much! Connie & Bob completed many projects together in their marriage. From remodeling of the homes to large overhauls on his beloved Volkswagens, they successfully completed each project, each time with love.
In 2018, Bob unexpectedly took ill and had to go in the VA Hospital in Gainesville Florida. Connie was by his side the entire time even living in the hospital quarters available for family. They decided to bring him home and she cared for him as a nurse for the past 6 months. After over 30 years of this love they shared, they taught their children what type of love they wanted in their lives. They are grateful for that lesson.
Bob’s Wife, Connie, daughters, Christy & Monica and grandchildren, Vashay, Zhareyahnna, Kahleal and Neko all live in Largo, Florida. He also cared very much for his sister in law, Carol and Son-In-Law, Shamine who also both live in Largo.
Bob will be remembered for many things but ultimately it will be his wonderful heart and kindness that will resonate with his family and friends forever. His love for his family will never allow his memory to fade, and his undying love for his wife will never end, we all consider it, “To be Continued…”
May care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. My most sincere condolences.
Bob was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I thought of him as a gentle giant. Such a big heart and a gentle spirit.
Connie was an amazing caregiver, completely dedicated to his care. This kind of live does not end when a gentle giant’s human heart stops beating. It lives on forever.
