Robert “Bob” J. Smith, Jr., 52, passed away on May 17th, 2020. He is remembered by his son Robert J. Smith III, daughter Ashley Morrison, his mother Carol Smith, brother Kirk Smith and Gerald & Mary Lou Prescott.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Bob carried the attitude all the way down to Florida. His family & many friends remember him as a real “character.” He was married once and later divorced. In Bob’s best days, he was a skilled pool player and spent many years entering tournaments at the family owned “Carol’s Place.” He loved listening to Shania Twain and fishing in his down time. We miss Dad dearly but find comfort in that he is no longer suffering.
A small service will be arranged for family and friends to gather minding social distancing guidelines. A short time afterward his ashes will be scattered near the Skyway Bridge per his wishes.
Please check back for date, time and location of services. Additionally, please share your memories, stories and condolences here in our online guestbook.
Really missing our dad today.
Thankfully, we were able to talk a couple days before his passing where he sounded happy and clear minded. He talked about all of the old friends he had ran into recently and thinking about it now, it feels like god brought him those last goodbyes for what would eventually come.
I remember the trips to the beach with Nana and the coquina shells that we used to collect. For the last 15+ years I have not been able to find live ones, only empty shells. The day we picked up your ashes, we hit the beach after and the shore line was filled with thriving coquina shells… I like to believe you were there with me that day.
Missing you dearly, hope you’re resting peacefully.
Thank you to Veterans Funeral Care for your services in handling our Dad’s remains and being compassionate & understanding throughout the process.
