Alberta Lee Wood-Arndt

January 21, 1926—August 26, 2020

Alberta, (“Berbie “) 94, of Redington Shores, FL, mother and homemaker, peacefully departed from this earth on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, “to be present with the Lord” for all eternity.

A native of Seymour, Indiana, Berbie was born on January 21, 1926, to Hazel and Everett Gorbett. She graduatedfrom Shields High School in Seymour in 1944.

Early in her adult life, she became a professional photographer; specializing in baby pictures and managing the Playland Studio in Indianapolis, Indiana. After relocating to Florida in 1963, Berbie enjoyed walks on the beach, sunsets, dancing, bowling, aerobics, watching movies, in addition to reading and studying God’s word. For over forty years, Berbie was a member of First Baptist Indian Rocks and thoroughly enjoyed attending Sunday school and church services. Her faith in God was unwavering. The family is blessed to have had our lives so enriched by her humor, love, Godly wisdom, encouragement, comfort and never-ending prayers. Berbie will be rememberedfor her unending love and devotion for her family and her “family famous ” carrot cake!

Berbie is survived by son Ron (Kay) Mahoney, daughter Nancy Gates, daughter Patti Van Vaerenbergh, daughter Cindy Brief, and daughter Donna (Earl) Barrett, in addition to ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, a sister, Sue (“Snookie”) Byers, and a niece and nephew. Berbie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Arndt, infant daughter, Patricia Sue, her parents, Hazel and Everett Gorbett, brother Everett Gorbett, Jr., sister Jesse Williams, nephews Michael Brinkman, Daniel Williams, Douglas Gorbett, and nieces Connie Smith and Susan Gorbett-Smith.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Suncoast Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their care and support during herfinal days on this earth.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date at First Baptist Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL 33774
