Michael Joseph Becker Sr,70, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 6th, 2020. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1950, to the late Ralph and Edna Becker. He was the oldest of 4 children.
After graduating from West Mifflin South High School, he served for four years in the U.S. Navy. After he completed his service in the Navy he worked as a carpenter and network administrator. Michael previously lived in Providence, RI, where he met his wife of 38 years. He moved his family to St. Petersburg, FL in 2001 and has lived here enjoying the warm weather ever since.
He was passionate about his family, woodworking, social work and his Catholic faith. He was an active parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Rhode Island for 20 years and of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg and was recently a member of St. Jude’s Cathedral.
He was the most generous person we have ever met and would help anyone in need. He could fix/build anything and had the most creative brain. He will be sorely missed by many.
Michael is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary (née Murphy), three children who all live in the Tampa Bay, Zoe Underwood, her husband, Chris, and their son, Axel; Alison Penna, her partner, Tom, and their daughter, Annabelle; and Michael Becker, his wife, Adrianna, and their son, Andrew.
He is also survived by his younger siblings, Nancy and Dave, both of Pittsburgh, and Steve, of Siesta Key. He was preceded in death by two sons, Frank and Bryan, and an infant daughter, Jocolyn.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2002 at St. Jude Cathedral located at 5815 5th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33710. A Public viewing will start at 12:30PM and a Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00PM.
