Patricia Laura Norman Ferguson entered heaven’s gates on December 16, 2020, 3 days before her 94th
birthday. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, J. Price and Sara Elizabeth Norman, her husband
William Thomas Ferguson, her daughter Ruth Patricia Ferguson Hess and grandson James Anthony
Ferguson. Pat is survived by three wonderful sisters Barbara Reed, Bettyann Johnson and Hattie Virgilio
as well as four children and their spouses: James (Shari) Ferguson, Paul (Christy) Ferguson, Becky (Carl)
Goertemoeller and Tim (Janette) Ferguson. Eight grandchildren called her Nana, Tony Ferguson, Andy
Ferguson, Lauren (Dustin) Speaks, Stephen (Lezleigh) Goertemoeller, Brian Goertemoeller, Tyler
(Kimmie) Ferguson, Ryan Ferguson, and Ashley Ferguson. Elizabeth Patricia, Joshua David and William
Carl Speaks call her Nana Pat plus she longed to hold a little girl scheduled to arrive in May 2021 to Tyler
and Kimmie Ferguson.
Pat grew up in suburban Philadelphia where she met and married Bill Ferguson. They lived in many
areas around the northeast before moving to Cincinnati with five children in 1965. Pat loved to share
her many talents with others. She was the church pianist and taught piano for many years in Cincinnati.
She loved to cook and bake and share the bounty of her kitchen with others. It is appropriate that she
entered and exited this world a week before Christmas. She loved Christmas and all the trappings
associated with an awesome celebration. Multiple Christmas trees, Christmas cantatas, concerts,
decorations, gifts, and Christmas cookies at a magnitude beyond normal. Her kitchen was her favorite
place to be.
A true servant when Pat entered assisted living, she continued to reach out to welcome the new
residents as well as send cards to the other widows in the church. She was the informal welcome wagon
representative in Laurel Oaks at Oak Manor. She often hosted neighbors in her room to watch the
Sunday Morning Church service streaming from Indian Rocks Baptist Church.
We will miss our sister, mom, aunt, nana, and nana Pat every day. Recalling her quick wit and dry sense
of humor will always make us smile. Although her soul lives with the Lord, her spirit and presence will
be remembered in each recipe we prepare, each musical endeavor pursued by grandchildren and great
grandchildren as well as countless piano students and in many of the hymns sung. God blesses the
generations of faithful followers, thank you Pat for the legacy you have left.
A service honoring her life will be Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Indian Rocks Baptist Church, 12685
Ulmerton Road, Largo, Florida 33774. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Indian Rocks Baptist
Church, the church she loved and served.
I am so sorry to hear that pat has passed away.i cleaned for pat and Ruth back in the day.sending prayers to everyone.
We will greatly miss Pat. She is loved always. She and I (Gwen) worked in the bookstore together in the 90’s. I treasure those days. She taught me so much. I love you and miss you Pat.
Dear Ferguson family, I had the joy and privilege of working alongside Pat at Charis Bookstore where I grew to love her as a mentor and friend. She made me laugh because she told me she couldn’t open boxes of new books upon their arrival, because it messed up her nails! She was an elegant lady! She kept us all well fed with her famous chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin bread and mini cinnamon rolls. I treasure our visits as she counted on my to keep her stocked with greeting cards and stamps to send to our widows on their birthday and anniversary of the loss of their spouse. She never let me leave her home without a pumpkin bread or bag of cookies. Pat will always hold a special place in my heart. And every time I make pumpkin bread I will remember her generous spirit and her love for others and for Jesus!

Pat will certainly be missed. She loved her family and was so proud of them. She encouraged and blessed our lives through her service and ministry through the Lord. We send our condolences and love to the her precious family.
Dear Fergusons,
Deepest sympathy from our entire family, including my dad, Jerry Odom who is with me here right now. We just finished being a part of the memorial service on zoom, for one of my dad’s closest friends for over 50 years. We know your hearts are broken over the earthly loss of Ms. Pat. Shw was one of a kind, and what a tremendous servant of God she was to alll who knew her and were blessed by observing the selfless acts she bestowed on those around her. While we know and are comforted by her current presence with the Lord, your arms ache from not being able to hug her and talk to her in person. Our prayers are with you all as you are now in this all too familiar state of grief. Im comforted in knowing she is at peace and again reunited with Ruth and her husban. Love and prayers from us all, the Lafferty family and Jerry Odom. 💞🙏
