Barbara Nuce Coleman, wife of former Pinellas County Sheriff Gerald Coleman, 84, of Clearwater, Florida passed away at her residence on March 22, 2021, under the care of Hospice with her loving family at her bedside. A native of Anderson, Indiana and a local resident since 1950 when she moved here from Anderson Indiana with her parents Benard and Anne Nuce and three younger siblings. Barbara was a loving daughter; sister, wife of Sheriff Gerald Coleman; mother and grandmother. She was born on July 2, 1936 in Anderson, Indiana and graduated from Clearwater High School, Clearwater, Florida. She attended Barry University in Miami Shores. Barbara was a faithful member and parishioner of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Clearwater, Florida.
She worked at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in the 1960’s where she met her husband Gerry. She frequently volunteered at St. Cecelia Elementary School and Clearwater Central High School when her children were in school. After Gerry’s retirement from the Sheriff’s department, they enjoyed traveling and cruises in Europe, the Caribbean, Central America, Alaska and the Bahamas with their family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her loving family: sons; Frank Coleman and his wife, Katie of Palm Harbor, Florida; Kevin Coleman and his wife, Christie of Tallahassee, Florida and Steve Coleman and his wife, Leslie of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren: Delaney Coleman of Palm Harbor, Florida; Jack Coleman of Palm Harbor, Florida; Addison Coleman of Tallahassee, Florida and Finnegan Coleman of Tallahassee, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Friday, March March 26, 2021 at Veterans Funeral Care, 830 North Belcher Road, Clearwater, Florida. A mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM, Friday, March 26, 2021 at St Cecelia Catholic Church, 820 Jasmine Way, Clearwater, Florida with Father Foins to officiate and the burial will be next to her late husband at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 26, 2021 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clearwater, Florida.
The Family would like to thank her best friend Marleen Spake for her tireless help and wonderful support during these past few years. And would also like to thank her home healthcare givers: Daisey, Jeni and Heather. We appreciate all your long hours, hard work, compassion and comfort you gave our mother.

My favorite Aunt! She was the best, always willing to lend a hand in any way she could. Such fun times with family at the Coleman’s. Thanksgiving, Cold Duck,babysitting,jewelry and travel. Uncle Gerry letting us kids drink Old Milwaukee beer!She will be missed! Loved her so much!
We will miss Aunt Barbara! She had the best laugh and such a kind person. She and her sister Katie took the night shift when our triplets were infants. I also remember Aunt Barbara goofing off at our wedding and she caught the garter! Such great memories. She will be missed!
