Richard Larry Hayes was born in Maryville, Tennessee on March 5, 1947. He is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Kathleen Hayes. He is survived by his son, Richard Kelly Hayes, grandsons, Kyle and Keaton Hayes, his sister, Judy Hayes Rivais and her husband, Joe. Ronnie Hayes Sr. and his fiancé, Joan Pennington, nephew, Ronnie Hayes Jr. and his wife, Amy and their children, Autumn and Tanner Hayes; Tammy Hayes Land and her children Kylie and Chase Land; Jason Hayes and his wife, Erica, and their children Illah and Baylon Hayes. His Aunts, Hazel Hayes and Clara Hayes of Gastonia N.C. and numerous cousins.
Larry graduated from Northeast High School in St Petersburg, Florida in 1965. He served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. He was employed as a Store Manager with Publix Supermarkets for approximately 32 years and a Manager for GNC for 15 years.
Raised as a Master Mason St. Petersburg Lodge No. 139 on December 26, 1972

Brother,
You are loved and missed more than you know. You were not only a great brother, but a wonderful friend to me. You were always there in difficult and happy times. I miss our daily talks every afternoon on my way home from work which started with “how’s your day” and your response was always “great”. When you were in the hospital, you gave the same answer. You fought hard and never complained, even if you were in pain and having a difficult day.
You were an inspiration to your family and friends and you never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Mother taught us well, be kind to everyone and love your neighbors. Well, your neighbors loved you!!!
As you told me in the hospital, I can’t believe at 74 I would be going through all of this. Neither can I. You were supposed to be here for a long time, but GOD had another plan.
I will love and miss you always.

To the big brother I always wished I’d have . . . I miss you already! You were always so kind to me & had a look in your eye that told me you cared. (Just like your daddy.) You & he were the male roll models I didn’t have at home. I wish I’d made a point of verbalizing how much you meant to me when you were here. I pray it showed. You took a piece of my heart with you when you left us too soon. I’ll see you with Jesus when His time is right. Thank you for your decades of friendship. ❤️

Larry was a great neighbor and friend. I will always remember his kindness and willingness to help others. He will be surely be missed by everyone.

For the sweetest person/brother, we shared so many “wonderful” conversations about our lives, where we’ve been and where we were going. Every birthday you always called me, and I yours, I will miss that call this year and every year to come. You truly are my “brother” and will be close in my heart because your sister is my best friend and we speak every day and we will be keeping your memory alive with our “daily” conversations.
