Mr Rocket will be missed but never forgotten. He was a terrific person who did things his way! God Bless!
Strolling through Veterans Funeral Care obituaries I came across Bob’s. So sorry to learn of his passing. I knew Bob from my days at the VA, and after Jack Sullivan persuaded me to take early retirement and join him at FDVA, the first opening Jack had was at the James Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. With Bob being the Field Services Bureau Chief, he was the first line supervisor and interviewed me. Bob was never an advocate of hiring former VA employees, however I made it my mission to change his mind. Eventually, I became the Bureau of State Approving wherein I spent the last ten years of my working career at FDVA. FDVA was the most enjoyable career of my time working with veterans. I know towards the end of Bob’s career he became disenchanted with some of the “top” former VA personnel which came to run FDVA. I was able to see where he was coming from, and felt his last few years at FDVA were disappointing. He will be remembered as a true advocate for veterans’ and their families. My prayers to the family.
I knew Bob very well when I worked at the Vet Center. A truly good man and a friend. May he rest in peace. John Babler
