“Celebration of Life” and military honors services for Richard P. Shannon and his beloved wife, “MAMA” Sharon R. Shannon will be celebrated together on Monday August 2, 2021, 11:00 AM, at Florida National Cemetery, 6902 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida with military honors for Richard being preformed by the US Army Honors and Ceremonial Team from Fort Stewart, Georgia and “Celebration of Life” services for “MAMA” Sharon R. Shannon being preformed by Pastor Jim Brady of the East Thonotosassa Baptist Church, Thonotosassa, Florida. They will be both interred in the same nich at the cemetery at the conclusion of the services.
Richard, 61 years old at his time of death, was born in Cumberland, Maryland on July 9, 1947 to James and Blanche (Kesner) Shannon and passed away at his residence in Tampa, Florida on March 20, 2009 from lung cancer. He served our nation in the US Army as a Armor Crewman and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Combat Medal; served 2 tours of duty overseas and was qualified as a expert in the M-14 Rife. After his discharge in Fort Lewis, Washington he returned to the Tampa Bay Area and began his civilian life as a family man and a plumber.
“MAMA” Sharon R. Shannon, 69 years old at her time of death, was born in Tampa, Florida on November 24, 1951 to Harry and Irma Jones. She died at the Seasons Hospice in St Joseph Hospital, Tampa, Florida on July 5, 2021 from natural causes and was a accountant in the banking field.
Their loving family are: his son, Scott Eugene Shannon and his wife, Elizabeth Shannon; grandsons, Caden Shannon, Brody Young, Granddaughters: Kenzie Shannon and Brinley Young; son, Steven Paul Shannon and significant other, Tiffany Joles; Grandsons, Dallas Shannon and significant other, Caitlyn Ross, Daniel Jackson, Jaxson and Jacob Jordan, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Thomas and Carol Shannon.
