Milton Forest Briggs, 97, passed away on July 8, 2021. He was born on February 4, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Milton K. Briggs and Ella Henkle Briggs.
Mr. Briggs graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1947. During his tenure at Rutgers, he served as an officer with R.O.T.C. With the onset of WW II, he enlisted and served as an officer in the United States Army Artillery where he earned 5 battle stars in the European Campaign.
After the war, he was employed by an insurance company and several large brokerage firms specializing in the employee benefits field. For 25 years, prior to retirement, he worked as a director with the Health Insurance Association of America.
Milton and his wife, Mildred, and son, Douglas moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 1985. Mr. Briggs lived at Shell Point Community Retirement Center in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Preceding him in death is his wife, Mildred in 2016. He is survived by his son, Douglas of Cape Coral, Florida.
A Graveside service will be held Monday, July 26, 2021 at Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Both Mr. and Mrs. Briggs will be inurned at that time. Military honors will be rendered.
