Michael Edward Sanders was born on March 9, 1948 and passed away on December 6, 2021. He was
preceded in death by his father, Edward Sanders Jr. He is survived by his mother, Eloise; three brothers,
David (Catherine), William (Barbara), Edward (Terri), and sister Barbara (Harry).
Mike also leaves behind his wife of forty years, Sylvia; three sons, Richard (Stephanie), James (Nicole),
and Timothy; as well as two daughters, Lynntina, and Rhonda (Norman). Mike also has twelve
grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Mike was known to be a huge fan of all sports teams in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; where he was
raised. Especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, just like his father was. It was also well known that he loved
model trains, and always had an interest in anything and everything railroad related.
Mike had an outgoing, loving, kind personality. Everyone who met him quickly became friends. Due
to his warm disposition and kind heart; Mike was welcome anywhere and everywhere he went with
open arms.
Mike and Sylvia met in November of 1980, at his daughter’s birthday party; and began dating a week
later. Their love for each other grew fast and strong. After their first date, he took the time to stop and
get donuts for Sylvia’s three children before taking her home. He proposed and married his wife by
March of 1981. While they fell in love fast, there was never a day that anyone could doubt the love they
have for each other. Every day of their lives together, they have shown the true meaning of what being
soulmates mean.
When they were married, Mike took his two children and Sylvia’s three children, and they became
one big happy extended family. At this time he became the father of all five children. His love for his
family has never wavered, and he has taught his children that you should never be afraid to show their
love. Mike raised all his children to show love, kindness, and strength in everything they do. He taught
them the importance of family, and to always be there for each other.
SP5 Sanders services are 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, Bay Pines Florida with the US army and American Legion Post 273 providing military honors.
I love you, Dad. Thank you for the life, and love you gave us. ThNk you for teaching me that family doesn’t require blood, but love. I hope I make you proud.
Cousin Mike you will be severely missed. God bless you and I will see you on the other side
He will be deeply missed by many. He always had a smile on his face and I will never forget him!
May he be at peace and no longer in pain. Love Kim & Ron
So there are so many memories dad.
There was when I played little league as you my coach or when we were on the way home from the Pirates game and I got Bobby Bonilla’s autograph and not my fault he yelled at you. Anyhow you have been there for me and I’ve been me but thank you for being you.
