Our beautiful mother reached the end of her wonderful life on June 12th, 2022. She always filled the lives of those around her with love and joy. While we knew mom was nearing the end, nothing can prepare you for the death of a loved one.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 23rd, 1932, to Wilbur and Grace Dudley. She attended Tipton High School with her brother, Richard Dudley (2018) and then attended Hanover College where she became a Phi Mu. She married Thomas Carlin (1971) in 1952, lived in Indianapolis and had three children, Sherri (Mark) Albaum, Bonnie (Alfred-2018) Carroll and Tommy (1971).
Wilberta (known by family and friends as Bert) was active in Epworth Church, Phi Mu Sorority, Tri Kappa, Daughters of American Revolution, bridge and book clubs. She worked at Indianapolis Life, Eastwood Junior High, Carmel Concrete, and as a taste hostess at Kroger groceries. She married Dudley Martin (2014) in 1977. They enjoyed traveling especially cruising, taking care of their dogs and enjoying the grandchildren Amanda (Craig) Studt, Jeremy (Bethany) Carroll, Brian (Kate) Albaum, Kevin (Lauren) Albaum and seven great grandchildren: Alexis, Carson, Annika, Aurora, Nina, Brooke and Alana.
A funeral will be held Thursday, June 16th, 2022 at Veterans Funeral Care. Visitation will be 11:00AM, services at 12:00PM. Friends may call from until time of service. Please share your condolences at Veterans Funeral Care. Internment will be at Flanner & Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.

Bert seemed to always have a smile . She loved playing bridge and attending her clubs. I remember her always in high heels ! She loved to read and in the book club. The Phi Mu Alums in the Indianapolis sure missed her when she moved to Florida. Pray she is at peace now .
Your Mom was a dear friend, she handled life with great courage.

Thank you so much for sending me the information on your Mom’s passing. She was an amazing woman and went through so many tragedies and difficulties with such grace and dignity and was an inspiration to us all. She was a pleasure to work with and I enjoyed sharing each day with her during my time working at Carmel Concrete.
