Neil H. Adamson-Firefighter, LT., City of St Petersburg and noted artist


Neil H. Adamson, 84, of St Petersburg, FL passed away on August 22, 2022 at St Petersburg General Hospital following a extended illness.  Neil was born on November 23, 1937 in Manchester, CT the son of James and May (Miller) Adamson.  He married Jeanne Marie at the Glad Tidings Church and they shared 19 years of marriage.   His wife, Jeanne; daughter; Vicki Adamson and son Mark Adamson.  Children by marriage; Wendy Wood, Kevin Brady, Chris Brady and Keith Brady; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Neil was a firefighter dedicating his life and service to the community.  There are many stories of his heroism. He retired as a Lieutenant from the City of St Petersburg Fire Department in 1984. He was a member of the Glad Tidings Church. Neil’s hobby and passions was cars, primary Corvettes from vintage to the newest models.  He rebuilt and restored classic cars Neil began painting in his early years as a firefighter.  He was self taught and traveled the USA to capture our natural beauty.  He became a world renowned watercolor artist.  He captured the beauty of the natural state of Florida National parks and the New England and Canadian landscapes.  His works hang in the US Embassies around the world with paintings representing the beauty of our great nation.  He had the honor of receiving the most distinguished award from the National Watercolor Society.

Neil was a true patriot and had a heart for the Veterans service men and woman in our armed service, the police departments and of course, the firefighters.  He was a generous donor to many organizations.

Neil was a sweet, passionate man and many people said “He never had a enemy”.  Loved and admired by so many.  His loss is deeply felt.
