Daniel C. Gilmore, 94, of Deland, Florida passed away in Deland, Florida on November 21, 2022. He was born on June 13, 1928 in Media, Pennsylvania to Morton and Bertha Mae (Brodbelt) Gilmore. CDR. Gilmore earned a Master Degree after his retirement from the US Navy. Daniel served our nation a total of 30 plus years in the military. He continued to work as a productivity manager in the aerospace industry. Prior to joining the US Navy, CDR. Gilmore also served in the United States Air Force. During CDR. Gilmore’s distinguished service, he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal; Meritorious Unit Award (VR-21); World War Victory Medal; American Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
CDR Gilmore is survived by his loving family: his wife, Arlene Gilmore; daughter, Teri Judge; son-in law, Bruce Judge and Rick Thomas; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Daniel was an Elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as a Pastor of a church for several years; a Dallas Cowboys Fan; enjoyed reading and keeping abreast of politics and current events; loved classical music and enjoyed the beach and warm climate.
CDR. Gilmore military honors service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, December 19, 2022 at Florida National Cemetery, 9201 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida with the US Navy Honors and Ceremonial Funeral Detail and the American Legion Post 155, officiating.
Arlene. I just found out about Dan and I’m so sorry. He was a good man and a good leader of many. My heart breaks for you and the family. May Dan rest in peace.
