James Frederick Schmidt, Master Scuba Diver and Isshin-ryu Black Belt, passed away at age 80 on October 29, 2023 in his home surrounded by family. He was born in Indianapolis on June 12, 1943, to parents Fred A. and Mary L. Schmidt (nee Henthorn), he served in the US Army and later in life the Pasco County School Board.
James is survived by his wife, Christine; children, Jeff, Tim (Steve), Rob (Stephanie), and Meghan; grandchildren, Brandon, Morgan, and Jacob; and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tom J. Schmidt.

A committal service will be held in his honor at Florida National Cemetery on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00AM, please arrive 15 minutes early.
