Richard E. Prescott

Richard E. Prescott, age 83, of Seminole, FL died on March 21st, 2024 at Oak Manor hospice following an extended illness. Richard was born on July 17th, 1940 in St Petersburg, FL. He was the son of Richard E. Prescott and Mildred M. Van Horsten. On November 3rd, 1962 he married Margaret H. Hope at the Anona United Methodist Church. They shared 61 years of marriage. Survivors include his loving wife, Margaret, his son, David, his daughter, Diane, as well as his sisters, Karen and Sandra. Richard and Margaret have six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Richard served in the Navy during Vietnam and worked as a store manager at several Pinellas county Winn-Dixie locations for 38 years. He retired from Winn-Dixie to buy and operate a mailbox Ect. Store in Wesley chapel, FL with his wife Margaret. He was a member of the Anona United Methodist Church. Richard also took great pride in his marriage to Margaret, his children, extended family and the long-term relationships he had with a large network of friends. He was an avid boater and enjoyed fishing or just being out on the water. He worked very hard his whole life and really enjoyed his vacation time and traveling. He took vacations to the Florida keys or Sanibel Island with friends and family and they were always fun. He and Margaret enjoyed trips to Maine, California, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, and Europe. Richard was known for having a big heart and he could be very sentimental. He had a tremendous sense of humor, even when he was in pain he made others feel at ease with a joke or his expression. He loved to entertain and have friends for dinner or cookouts in his backyard. He loved dogs, Coke zero, cheeseburgers, and ice cream!

A special thanks to Traci, Billy, and Carolyn for all their support to help our family during Pop’s illness and in our time of mourning.

A graveside service will be held in Richard’s honor on March 25th at Noon located at Serenity Gardens and Memorial Park in largo, FL.
