Salg, George J. Jr, age 91, of St Petersburg, FL passed away on June 29, 2024. George was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 24, 1933 to his parents, Florence and George J. Salg Sr. He was a local resident here in Pinellas County since 1956.
George was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and a Veteran of the Korean War, He also played the Saxophone in the Marine Corp Band and also held the Honor of First Place Marksman in his unit. He was a Fireman and EMT with the City of St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue and retired after 23 years of Service. He also owned and worked at his own Lawn Service for over 30 years. In his younger years he loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and playing baseball and later in life he loved walking the beaches along the Gulf of Mexico looking for sharks teeth or simply just sitting enjoying the sun and the view of the Gulf.
He is survived by his loving family including Margaret, his daughter, Linda (Joe), his sons, Michael (Sheila) and George, his sister, Georganna, his brothers (predeceased in death) Stephen and Ronald, and his grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, Isabella, Michael Jr., and Siara, his great-granddaughter, Margo, and his nephews, Ronald Jr, Tommy, Eric and Travis, as well as several great nephews and nieces.
Honor, Courage and Commitment, words he lived by. He fought the good fight, he finished the race and he was faithful until the end. You will be forever loved and missed Dad. Semper FI
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pinellas County SPCA, in memory of his beloved dog-sons, Mikey and Pepper.
A Memorial Service will be held in Mr. Salg’s honor at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL on Thursday, August 29th @ 10:00am.

We are deeply saddened for you on the loss of your, father and loved one. He will be dearly missed by so many. He was definitely a man of his words and it always showed in his actions! I will always cherish growing up alongside his family – he treated me like I was one of his own. I was truly blessed!
