Katlyn Braun

Largo, Florida — Ms. Katlyn “Katja” Mary Braun age 22, of Largo, Florida, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 14, 2024.  Final Rites will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Pavilion at John Bonner Park, followed with a Celebration of Life at The Event Hall in Largo, Florida. Final Rites will be guided by Julia. Katlyn was born the daughter of Christina D. Richardson in Winter Haven, Florida on July 26, 2002.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Virginia Mary Aubin of Polk City, Florida. Katlyn leaves behind both of her parents, as well as her half-brother Christoper Ryan of Merced, CA and half-sister, Vivian Beard of Hilmar, CA. In addition to her close family, Katlyn leaves behind her grandparents, Bryan and Kathy Richardson of Concord, GA and her aunt and Uncle, Barbara and Jon Pessolano of Staten Island, NY along with her beloved cousin. Additionally, Kat leaves behind an army of friends from all walks of life who viewed her as family. In 2020 Kat completed her studies and graduated from Seminole High School in Seminole Florida and then continued with enrollment at Pinellas County Technical College. Katja was uniquely herself, radiating intelligence though curiosity and research, with a vibrant, iridescent personality. A love of both rats and cats, she was a truth seeker and a storyteller, a laughter provoker, and a spirited nonconformist with a penchant for music, art, spirituality, weed, dance, and the occasional adventure with illicit substances. Her personality was a delightful blend of mischief, spontaneity and honesty, punctuated by quick-witted one-liners and an infectious zest for life. Her conversations were always thought-provoking, infused with imagination and reality, and her sharp logic made her a formidable debater. Kat was passionate about love, life, friends, and family. She radiated enthusiasm and approached life with zeal and an adventurous heart.  With a soft inviting laugh, she inspired others to find joy in the simple things while igniting a sense of enthusiasm that was simply contagious – a testament to her vibrancy. Even in her quiet moments of solace and reflection, Kat was far from mundane. You might find her exploring various religions, from the Quran to Wicca, or lost in her journals of deep, pondering thoughts. She was always creating a sanctuary of creativity in her home and making it uniquely aesthetic. She was known to always make a creative enclave amidst her surroundings and often transformed her artistic endeavors into stick-and-poke tattoos for friends, showcasing her unique flair.

Her congenial personality and inviting laugh were magnetic, though some outsiders, perhaps intimidated or jealous of her brilliance, or maybe envious of her spirit might have misinterpreted her sharp tongue as callousness. With words as incisive as a tungsten needle, her articulate and fiercely honest remarks could catch anyone off guard and put them in their place swiftly. Kat upheld an unwavering belief in loyalty, always the ultimate wingwoman, earning her the reputation as a solid friend that she would proudly boast to her mother, stating no one could never claim she wasn’t “solid af”. Kat never left anyone behind and upheld a belief system of being a loyal and true friend (Fidus Achates). She cultivated deep trust and empathy, making her a cherished ally. Her ability to listen and offer sage advice, even when she needed it herself, reinforced her role as a confidant – often referred to as a vault for secrets, she never compromised the trust bestowed upon her. Rejecting labels, she embraced diversity and appreciated the complexities of the human experience, creating a safe space for friends to express themselves without fear of judgement. Kat valued authenticity and clarity, never shying away from difficult conversations or hypocrisy. Although she struggled with mental diseases, she embodied the idea that being true to oneself is far more important than fitting into societal molds. Love and intimacy were vital to Kats life. She lived boldly, exploring connections and the pleasures they brought. Her free spirit embraced the dualities of expectation and the contradiction of conventional standards, fiercely loving those she allowed into her world. Kat embodied resilience and determination and did not appreciate unwarranted drama. She faced challenges head-on with an unwavering spirit. She approached setbacks as opportunities, employing creativity and strategic thinking to find solutions. Her tenacity inspired, as she navigated difficulties with a belief that perseverance would ultimately lead to success.

Words can hardly capture the essence of Kat. She was truly one of a kind, a once-in-a- lifetime presence. Even those who only crossed paths with her briefly would say she made a remarkable impression that lingered long after their encounter. Many could not resist the magnetism of her personality including the dichotomy of giving us all what it was like to be both sides of the coin. Though we feel an ache in our hearts and an absence that lingers through every day, there’s a bittersweet gratitude for the time we shared with her. We cherish our connection while longing for her presence, hoping she has found the enlightenment she sought. Her spirit surrounds us not just in the ethereal world but within us all.  Our sadness is a testament to a bond we created with Kat, reflecting the profound impact she had on our lives, albeit far too brief. It serves as a gentle reminder that love, in all its forms, leaves an indelible mark, resonating deeply even in her untimely absence.
