Alan Jay Weining passed away on December 26, 2024 in Safety Harbor, Florida. Alan was born on September 29, 1946 in Newark, NJ to the late Lorraine Gardner and Jule Weining. Alan was the oldest of four siblings and grew up in a large, loving family full of aunts, uncles and cousins. During his youth the family moved often and Alan lived in Iowa, Virginia, North Carolina, and New Jersey, and later in New York and Florida.
Alan entered the United States Naval Reserve at the age of 19. He served in the Vietnam Theatre and received a Vietnam Service medal with one Bronze Battle star. He proudly served aboard the USS Providence.
Alan retired as a Technical Expert with the Social Security Administration in Little Egg Harbor, NJ. He also worked as an Italian deli owner, shoe salesman and store manager among other occupations. He enjoyed reading, watching sports, playing Rummikub and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children Steven and AnnMarie Davis of Allentown PA, and Susan and John Duca of Orlando Fl, and by his siblings Karen Nolan of Tom’s River NJ, Robin Ricci of Palm Harbor FL, and Penny and John Ehrman of Port St Joe FL. He was a loving grandfather to Brandon, Sabrina and Maya Davis and to Andrew, Jillian and Brielle Duca. He was a loving uncle to Drew and Dana Ricci of Philadelphia PA.
There will be a small ceremony at the Bay Pines Veteran’s cemetery in St Petersburg FL where his ashes will be interred.
