It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rhonda Lynne Sobrack – Van Horn, who left us unexpectedly at home on January 28, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on January 19, 1961, at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, Rhonda was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew her.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Leo Dresselaers, and is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Gerald B. Van Horn, III. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Rhonda was a proud mother to her son, Jason (Lynn) Sobrack, and her daughter, Emily (Matthew) Weidner. She was also a beloved Nana to her granddaughter, Charlotte Weidner, who brought immense joy to her life.
Born to Leo and Delores (Vernon) Dresselaers, Rhonda held a special place in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her loving mother, Delores Dresselaers, her brother Leo (Penny) Dresselaers, Jr., and their daughter, Elizabeth, as well as her sister Shelley (Todd) Mitton and their son, Neil. Rhonda’s family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent together.
Rhonda’s professional life was marked by her role as a Manager in the Communications Technology industry, where she was respected and admired for her dedication and expertise. However, her greatest accomplishments were woven into the fabric of her family life, where she excelled as a loving wife, nurturing mother, and doting grandmother.
A woman of vibrant personality, Rhonda was known for her love of Southwestern fashion and her passion for painting. She found joy in expressing her creativity through art, and it brought her peace and fulfillment. An avid gambler, Rhonda enjoyed thrilling trips to The Hard Rock Casino in Tampa, Florida, and Biloxi, Mississippi. These adventures were a testament to her spirited nature and zest for life.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rhonda’s life on February 8, 2025, at Eagle Lake Park Pavilion #4, with a gathering from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The ceremony will commemorate the beautiful memories she created and the love she spread during her time with us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Rhonda’s memory, reflecting her generosity and caring spirit.
Rhonda Lynne Sobrack – Van Horn will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in peace, enveloped in the love of those who have gone before her.
