Vito Marchionna, 93, of Clearwater, FL, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, in Pinellas Park, FL. He was born on May 15, 1931, in the Bronx, NY, to the late Margaret Paladino and Raffaele Marchionna.
Vito was a loving father, survived by his son Woody Marchionna, daughter-in-law Linda Marchionna, and daughter-in-law Dee Marchionna. He is also preceded in death by his beloved son, Barry Marchionna.
A man of deep commitment, Vito proudly served in the United States Air Force from November 1951 to August 1955 during the Korean War. He was stationed at an Air Force base near Paris, France, and later in England, where he made lifelong memories and friendships. His service to his country was a point of immense pride throughout his life.
Vito was an active member of his community and a passionate coach for youth baseball and basketball in Ringwood, NJ. He brought enthusiasm and dedication to every game, touching the lives of many young athletes. His love for the game was only matched by his loyalty to his hometown teams, especially the New York Yankees, whose victories he celebrated with unyielding fervor. Beyond sports, Vito had a love for Westerns and was a dedicated fan of John Wayne films. He enjoyed Frank Sinatra’s music.
Vito’s life journey took him from the Bronx to Ringwood, NJ, and eventually to Clearwater, FL, where he spent his final years. His family and friends will always remember him for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and undying loyalty.
