Peter Stephen Vasil, Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Stephen Vasil, Jr., who left this world on April 11, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on August 26, 1941, in Boston, Massachusetts, Peter lived a life rich with experiences, love, and dedication to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Peter was the beloved son of Peter S. Sr. and Aferdita (Lazar) Vasil. He is preceded in death by his parents and his cherished granddaughter, Kaylyn Marianna Chapman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Trudy Vasil; his three loving daughters, Monique (Lee) Descaro, Michelle (Tom) Bible, and Deirdre (Daryl) Schuster; and his proud grandchildren, Courtney (Michael) Cabral, Jarrod (Erin) Descaro, Brandon (Morgan) Chapman, Kurt (Lauren) Schuster, and Simone Schuster. Peter was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Jayden, Lennon, Ivan, and Brady. He is remembered fondly by his brother, Paul (Marie) Vasil; his sisters, Charlotte Pike, Valerie Vasil, Vivian Vasil, and Collette (Peter) Taylor; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, including Maria (Patrick) Collins, Kristen Vasil, Robin Vasil, Michael (Melissa) Kendis, Alyssa (John) Pentore, and Nicole (Tommy) Nasson.

Peter’s education began in Boston, where he attended Belmont Hill School and Belmont High School. Peter then served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for four years, with tours to Okinawa, the Mediterranean, and being put on alert to possibly go to Cuba during the missile crisis. After his military service, Peter moved to California for a period of time, before returning to Massachusetts to attend Bentley University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Peter moved to Florida and started his tax practice. Over the years, he touched the lives of many, earning the respect and appreciation of his clients, who valued his dedication and expertise.

Peter was an individual of many interests and hobbies. He loved riding motorcycles, photography, sailing, and was an avid sports and vintage car enthusiast. He had a zest for life and a sense of adventure that he shared with his family and friends. Peter was also of Albanian descent and held his Greek Orthodox faith close to his heart.

Traveling the world opened Peter’s mind and spirit. A transformative journey took him to India, where he learned the art of meditation under the guidance of a revered guru. This experience deepened his understanding of life and enriched his compassionate nature. He was known for his unconditional love, patience, and respect towards others, often lending a helping hand to those in need. Peter was actively involved in his community, supporting veteran organizations, participating in Toys for Tots, and making regular check-ins with friends, family, and colleagues, always taking the time to listen and mentor those around him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, an organization close to Peter’s heart.

Peter’s funeral service will be held on May 17, 2025, at Veterans Funeral Care, commencing at 10:00 AM.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at Davita Dialysis Center in Dunedin for the exceptional care they provided to Peter during his treatments.
