Margaret P. O’Hara, 94, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 18, 2025 in Tampa, FL where
she had been lovingly cared for by her son George and his wife Holly for the last 7 years of her life.
Margaret led a very interesting life and was well known for her strength, resilience, and positive
attitude. She was born on the Bokakhat Tea Plantation in Assam, India on September 18, 1930,
where she lived until her father was killed during combat in Burma in 1939.
She then moved to London, England where she later graduated from West Middlesex University
Hospital with a degree in nursing.
It was in London where she met a handsome young American
serving his country in the USAF, whom she later married in Munich Germany where they had two sons.
After extensive travel while he was in the military, they retired to Titusville, FL where she lived
from 1971 until she moved to Tampa in 2018. Margaret is survived by two sons Tom (Janet), and George (Holly), and was preceded in death by her
husband of 36 years, Thomas J. O’Hara. She had 4 grandchildren: Sarah Jackson (Corey), Lesley
Osburn (Adam), Jordan O’Hara, and Bridget O’Hara. She also was blessed to experience the joy of
being a great grandmother to Fallon, Harper, Knox, Winter and Wolf.
She will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola NAS, FL where she will be rejoined
with her beloved Tom.
Dear Family,
Although I did not get a chance to meet Mrs. Margaret, I’ve gotten the pleasure to meet her wonderful granddaughter (Bridget). This year has allowed me to build a connection with her and to hear the beautiful stories of her grandmother. She was strong, loyal, and a caring woman to everyone. She will not only be missed but celebrated to the highest for a life well lived. Thank you for all that you have done and the impactful moments on other people’s lives.
