Donald “Don” R. Strohler, Sr.

In Loving Memory of Donald “Don” R. Strohler, Sr.

September 29, 1928 – June 24, 2025

Donald “Don” R. Strohler, Sr., 96, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, at Mease Dunedin Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Don entered the world on September 29, 1928, as the beloved son of Ben and Eva Strohler. He began a life filled with purpose, joy, and service that would span nearly a century. On July 12, 1952, he married Elizabeth Lewis at Holy Ghost Church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania—a union that blossomed into a remarkable 72-year love story.

Don dedicated his career to public service, working as a Shift Supervisor in Water Filtration for the City of Allentown. In retirement, he stayed active, spending 15 fulfilling years with the Philadelphia Phillies Spring Training Camp, where his love of sports and community truly came alive.

Throughout his life, Don was a man of tremendous energy and spirit. A gifted athlete, he played basketball, baseball, tennis, and golf in his younger years and remained active well into his 90s, biking the Pinellas Trail, playing softball for the 3 Score Team, and bowling—scoring an impressive 268 just this year. He celebrated a Hole in One in golf, a fitting tribute to his enthusiasm and skill.

His creativity shone through his love for music, singing, and dancing, and his generosity touched many as he devoted countless hours to volunteer work. Don was a lifelong learner, an unwavering supporter, and an inspiring role model. His proudest achievements, by far, were being the loving Patriarch of his family and serving his country for 8 years in the National Guard.

He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Allentown and later, St. Michael the Archangel Church in Clearwater, FL.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Eva Strohler, his sister Helen Strohler, and his brother Robert Strohler.

He is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth “Nan” Strohler; his children Don Strohler Jr. (Kathy), Lisa Januchowski, Susan Felton (Harold), Tom Strohler, Gina Wieller (Jim), and Dan Strohler (Sharon); 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren—all of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness, strength, and joy.

A funeral service will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Clearwater, FL on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11am. A memorial mass will follow at St. Joseph the Worker in Orefield, PA on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11 AM.

Don’s light will live on in the hearts he touched and the lives he uplifted. He will be deeply missed.
