Angel Salvador Urbina Capo, age 54, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on September 16, 2025. Born on January 13, 1971, Angel was the beloved son of Angel Salvador Urbina and Olga Maria Capo Santiago.
Angel lived a life dedicated to service, intellect, faith, and family. A native of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, he went on to live in San Juan, Orlando, and eventually settled in Tampa, Florida. He served his community and country in many ways — working in government in Guaynabo, at the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, in several information technology companies, and as a Military Police Officer for both the Puerto Rico Army National Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Angel served with distinction in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 15 years, including several years as Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 7-9. One of the proudest highlights of his service came when he led alongside his son, Braulio, who served as Vice Commander — the first time a father-son team held those positions concurrently.
Angel was a man of deep thought, driven by a love for learning and a passion for truth. He completed doctoral studies in Theology, and his faith was the compass of his life. His academic journey culminated in the publication of his first book, one of his proudest personal accomplishments. He was a visionary and a tireless seeker of God, determined to bring faith back to the center of American life.
Angel had a profound interest in current events, geopolitical history, theology, and evangelization in our modern culture. He was known as a towering intellect with an equally big heart — always striving to make things better, always ready with a kind word, and always willing to engage in meaningful conversations about faith, life, and purpose.
He enjoyed boating and family trips and took great joy in seeing his sons grow into men of character. Angel’s impact on the Tampa Bay faith community was significant, and he often encouraged others to get involved in politics and leadership.
Angel is survived by his parents, Angel Salvador Urbina and Olga Maria Capo Santiago; his two beloved sons, Angel Gabriel Urbina and Braulio Rafael Urbina; as well as various aunts, an uncle, and cousins who will continue to carry his memory forward.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported, loved, and stood beside Angel in his many endeavors. Every act of kindness shown to him is deeply appreciated, and the family extends their love and appreciation.
