Neil Gregory Daniel, Esq.

It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Neil Gregory Daniel, Esq., who left this world on March 3, 2026, at the age of 76. Neil passed away peacefully at HCA Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg following an illness. He was surrounded by the love of his family and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and music that will resonate for generations.

Born on March 24, 1949, in Washington, D.C., Neil was the beloved son of the late Neil and Bettylou (White) Daniel. From his earliest days, Neil exhibited a remarkable blend of curiosity, intellect, and compassion that would shape his life’s journey and touch countless others.

A dedicated patriot, Neil proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, Neil embarked on a distinguished career in law. Following his marriage to the love of his life, Barbara Ellin Catogni, on June 21, 1981, in Casselberry, FL., he pursued his legal education at Stetson Law School. There, he earned his J.D. degree and went on to practice law for 35 years, advocating for justice with integrity and empathy.

Neil was more than his professional achievements; he was a man of many talents and passions. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he cherished his family above all. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Neil; their son Kenyon G. Daniel and daughter-in-law Lynn Daniel; and his adored grandson Cameron Daniel and granddaughter-in-law Layla. His sister, Jacquelyn Kemp, also survives him, bearing witness to a familial bond that remained unbroken by time or distance.

In addition to his legal and familial commitments, Neil was a man of many interests and talents. He was a Master Mason, an accomplished guitarist, and a prolific songwriter, having written 91 songs. Music was a significant part of Neil’s life, and he shared this passion with family and friends as part of Localeo, a band that brought joy and melody to many gatherings.

Neil’s life will be celebrated at a service to be held on April 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. We will gather to honor a man whose life was a testament to the power of love, service, and creativity.

As we say goodbye to Neil, we remember him as a guiding light in our lives—a man whose warmth and wisdom will be deeply missed but never forgotten.  May Neil Gregory Daniel, Esq. rest in peace, his legacy forever etched in the hearts of those he touched.
