With heavy hearts, the family of William “Bill” Clyde Collins announces his passing on April 3, 2026. Born on September 1, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, Bill was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who touched the lives of many with his warm spirit and unwavering kindness.
In service to his country, Bill proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served with honor and dedication. As a Navy veteran, he carried his experiences and lessons learned into his civilian life, shaping him into the resilient and compassionate man we all knew and loved.
Bill’s life was enriched by his family, who he held close to his heart. He is survived by his son, Kevin Collins, and Kevin’s partner, Leslie Schutte of Loose Creek, Missouri. His legacy continues through his twin daughters, Nicole Collins of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Michele (Collins) Rutherford, along with his son-in-law, Nick Rutherford of Hiram, Georgia. Bill’s sister, Roberta “Bobbi” Horton of Clearwater, Florida, remains to cherish the memories of a brother who meant the world to her.
The joy of Bill’s life was magnified by his three granddaughters: Trisha and her husband, Brandon Keilholz of Cape Coral, Florida, Taylor Strope of Loose Creek, Missouri, and Torie Strope of Hiram, Georgia. Bill’s heart was further warmed by his four great-grandchildren: Melani, Kendra, and Callee Keilholz, and Samuel Hamlett.
Bill was the son of Emmett Clyde and Walburga (Mueller) Collins. Growing up in St. Louis, he was the brother of Joseph “Joe” Collins, who preceded him in death. Together, they shared a bond filled with love, laughter, and brotherly adventures.
Bill found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid golfer, he spent countless hours on the greens, sharing stories and companionship with friends. His love for cooking and baking, especially bread, was a testament to his generous spirit. He delighted in sharing his culinary creations with family and friends, leaving them not only satisfied but feeling deeply cared for.
Having lived between St. Louis, Missouri, and Palm Harbor, Florida, Bill’s life was a tapestry of cherished moments and enduring friendships. He will be remembered for being straightforward, down-to-earth, and his ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.
A celebration of Bill’s life will take place on April 30, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Bay Pines National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor a man whose life was a beacon of love, integrity, and joy.
