Wayne C. Matson, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 93, under the compassionate care of Gulfside Hospice. Born on September 4, 1932, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Wayne was the beloved son of the late Rudolph Carl and Mabel Josephine (Hilliard) Matson.
From a young age, Wayne showed a remarkable dedication to his country, which led him to proudly serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Rising to the rank of Corporal, he carried out his duties with honor and distinction, a reflection of his unwavering commitment to the principles he held dear. His time in the Marines not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a deep sense of duty and integrity that he carried throughout his life.
Wayne will be laid to rest at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
