John was born on July 10, 1940, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to John Reid Loggie, II and Mary Brown Basham. He departed this life on September 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
John’s life was a tapestry of dedication, adventure, and love. Growing up in the heart of Texas, he developed an early passion for life’s simple joys, a trait that would carry him through a remarkable journey across the world. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for two decades, a service that took him to various corners of the globe and instilled in him a deep sense of duty and honor. His military career was not just a chapter of his life but a calling that shaped his character and left an indelible mark on his family and all who knew him.
After retiring from the Navy, John embarked on a new career at Textronics, where he dedicated another 20 years, followed by a decade in real estate. His colleagues remember him as a hardworking and innovative professional, whose enthusiasm for his work was matched only by his kindness and generosity.
On February 4, 1961, John married the love of his life, Ora Mae Canada, in Christmas, Florida. Together, they shared 65 beautiful years of marriage, a partnership that was a testament to enduring love and unwavering commitment. Ora Mae remained by his side, in times of joy and in times of challenge, and their bond was the foundation of their large, loving family.
John’s family was the center of his world. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ora Mae Loggie; his daughter, Laura Migliacci, and her husband, Dennis; and his son, Larry Loggie. He was the proud grandfather of Neal, Melissa, Brandon, Michael, Jordan, Brittany, Amanda, and Amber, and the cherished great-grandfather of six. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, celebrating milestones and creating memories that will live on in their hearts.
In his free time, John was a man of diverse interests. He found joy in refurbishing antique cars, a hobby that combined his love of history and mechanics. Sailing and boating were his passions, offering him tranquility and the freedom of open waters. He was an avid traveler, exploring new places with an insatiable curiosity, and his love for computers kept him connected with the world and his family.
John’s legacy is one of integrity, warmth, and a life well-lived. His family and friends will remember him for his gentle spirit, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering kindness. As he joins his parents, who predeceased him, in eternal rest, his memory will forever be a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
A service to honor John’s life will be held on October 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Christmas Cemetery Chapel in Christmas, Florida. Family and friends are invited to join in this celebration of a life marked by love, service, and unforgettable moments.
