Linda Mae Wise Altizer

Linda Mae Wise Altizer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-
great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2026, in Plant City,
Florida, at the age of 86.
Born on December 3, 1939, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Clifford Elba Wise and Edna Mae
Hazelett Wise, Linda grew up with a deep love for the Lord and a heart shaped by faith,
family, and care for others.
On April 5, 1958, Linda married the love of her life, John Ray Altizer. Together they built a
beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and mutual devotion. Two years later, they left West
Virginia to begin a new life in Plant City, Florida. From that humble beginning, they created a
home that welcomed generations of family and friends, always making room for those who
needed the security and warmth of a loving, Christ-centered home.
Linda’s greatest joy was being with John and her family. Wherever John was, Linda was
often close by, and after his passing she deeply felt the loss of the companion with whom she
had shared 67 years of marriage. She loved to sit and talk, to reminisce, and to listen to
stories that made her laugh or made her proud.
Her faith was steady and sincere. Linda loved God, cherished the book of Psalms and
continued watching church services when she could no longer attend in person. She also
shared her love of music by playing the organ at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Plant
City. At home, she enjoyed gospel music, word puzzles, cooking, sewing clothes and
costumes for the children and grand-children, and the simple pleasure of a good quesadilla.
She had a quick mind, a generous heart, and a gift for making ordinary moments feel loving.
Linda also worked outside the home, bringing dedication and care to her roles with Jim
Walter Homes in Tampa, General Electric in Tampa, and CF Industries in Zephyrhills and
Bartow, Florida. Whether at work, at church, or at home, she carried herself with quiet
strength, warmth, and devotion.
Linda is survived by her children, Charles “Charlie” Altizer, Eddie Altizer (Tammy), Clifford
“Cliff” Altizer (Kim), and Lana Smith (Chuck); 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, with
one on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John Ray Altizer; her parents,
Clifford Elba Wise and Edna Mae Hazelett Wise; her brother, Charles Wise; and her sister,
Carolyn Wise Kasiske.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at East Thonotosassa Baptist Church on Sunday,
September 27, 2026, at 2:00 in the afternoon.
