Josephine "Joan" Mary Ison, 78, of Tampa, FL passed away on January 2, 2014 at home under the care of LifePath Hospice.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, she moved here from Tacoma, WA in 1973. She worked in Food Service for the Pinellas County School System and retired from the Hillsborough County School System. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a worldwide traveler and an avid reader. She enjoyed walking, biking, and music.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Mark and Michael. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, SMSGT Howard Ison, USAF Ret.; two daughters, Debra (Michael) Thomas of Ruskin, FL and Ann Marks of St. Petersburg, FL; two brothers, Patrick and Dennis Flood of England; a grandson, Colin (Amanda) Marks; and great grandson, Brock Marks.
A gathering of family and friends will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Segal Funeral Home, 3909 Henderson Blvd., Tampa 33629. A service will follow at 11:00 AM with interment at Florida National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
