Mary Agnes Sepanik, 88, passed away on February 21, 2014 in Clearwater, FL.
Born in Green Bay WI on November 18, 1925, she was the daughter of Florence LeMieux and Thomas Jorgensen. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edward, and daughter, Rosemarna.
Her lifelong career interest with books began at St. Benet’s, a progressive Catholic bookstore in Chicago and led to a Masters of Library Science. The family relocated to Florida in the mid 60s, first to the Miami area, and then in 1969 to the Tampa area where she joined the University of South Florida’s (USF) library staff. Mary became head of the General Reference Library, retiring in 1987.
A remembrance service is planned for a later date in Green Bay.

I’m so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. My husband Charlie and I worked with Mary at USF in the 1970’s. I always had great respect and fondness for her. She was the kind of librarian – and person – that I hoped to be. I’m sure that she inspired many of us young librarians.
I had the pleasure of working with Mary for many years. She was a treasure – quick wit, to the point when necessary but caring. She was one of my mentors in librarianship. She will be greatly missed by many whose lives she touched.
I met Mary in 1977, and have cherished and admired her since then. She was intelligent, capable and not a bit stuffy. If the world was managed by people like Mary, we would all be better off! I am a better person for having known her.
i am so sorry ed and marna for your loss. i lived next to mary for many years in lake forest. she was so dear to me and i loved her. we had so many funny moments together.i had thought of her so often and send her cards to let her know she had not been forgotten. may she rest in the arms of angels. love you mary
