On March 16, 2014 Floyd W. Wilcox graduated to heaven under the care of the Suncoast Hospice at Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg, Florida with his wife Mary Ann Wilcox at his bedside.
Floyd W. Wilcox, 91, of St Petersburg, FL funeral mass is 9:30 AM, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Our Lady's Chapel of the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, 5815 Fifth Avenue North, St Petersburg, Florida 33710 with Father Joseph L. Waters, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the Chapel from 9: 00 AM until service time. Catholic graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:15 AM, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Avenue North, Clearwater, Florida with the Pinellas County Military Honor Guard to officiate.
Floyd was preceded in death by his daughter Betty Ann and his sister Eleanor Wilcox. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Wilcox; daughter Dee Cooper; step son Joseph Stefanski; grandsons James Delso (Joan) and Daniel Cooper (Marcia) and great grandchildren Rylan Cooper, Lauren Whitson and Christopher Whitson.
Floyd was a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II and received two (2) Purple Hearts for injuries during combat. He retired from Merck Company as a refrigeration engineer and union official. He was a communicant of the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle. I remember Floyd very well. When I was a young girl, Floyd was a partner with my mother in a tavern on Staten Island. I spent a couple of weekends at his home in Rahway. I also have a picture of him at my confirmation. My condolences to his family. I remember him as a very nice man.
