Viola Elizabeth Snyder, 91, of Largo, also known as Chick, Mom, Nannie, Aunt Chickie, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at home.
Born on May 4, 1923 to John & Bessie Santic in Livingston Manor, NY, she graduated from Roxbury Central School in 1942. She was preceded in death by a brother and half sister. and leaves behind her other sister Mary Williams still living in New York. On November 1, 1942, she became Mrs David C. Snyder.
Viola is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, David; her daughter, Davanna "Davy" (Samuel) Hitt of Florida; her son, Leslie John (Pauline) Snyder of Kentucky; sister, Mary Williams of New York; sister-in law, Nettie McKee of Florida; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a great, great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Viola was a homemaker, loved to draw and paint, crochet, play the organ, and traveling to Cherokee, NC in the summer, but mostly she loved spending time and being with her husband in their home.
Viola was unable to do alot of things due to illness near the end. Her final wishes was to be home and surrounded by her husband and family. Her final request were no tears, just happy thoughts and memories. She wanted family and friends to have a celebration of life to remember and think of all the memories and times that were shared with her and about her; to give comfort to one another and to remember "She'll box your ears".
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard, Bay Pines, FL 33744. In lieu of flowers please, the family requests donations be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation, Clearwater, FL, http://thehospice.org.
And to all the nurses and Chaplain Jerry who were all totally amazing to our family, we cannot say enough. "God Bless."

Missing you and Loving you always
Words can not express how much I miss and love you. You were and always will be a major part of our family.
You all are in my prayers and thoughts in this time of sorrow. I’m glad I was fortunate enough to know her. She will be missed.
Rest in peace nanny.
Davy, May God be your strong tower during this difficult time. My prayers are with you, my friend.
I will remember with love our happy times, our sad times, for our laughter and tears. I will love you forever mom.
Those special memories of you will always bring a smile
If only I could have you back for just a little while
Then we could sit and talk again just like we use to do
You always meant so very much and always will do too
The fact that your no longer here will always cause me pain
But your forever in my heart until we meet again……
I LOVE YOU NANNY
