Donald Michael Thomas, 87, of Clearwater, FL: Funeral service is 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Friendship United Methodist Church, 2039 Druid Road, East, Clearwater, FL with Pastor Eddie Lamb to officiate. At the conclusion of the service, full military honors will be provided by Detachment 54, United States Marine Corp League. Burial will be at a later date at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
A local resident since 1976, he moved here from Chicago, Illinois. He was the owner of Don’s Barber Shop in Chicago and he was a local Finance Manager for Walker Ford and Bill Curry Ford. He was of the Methodist Faith and belonged to St. Paul’s Methodist Church. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was awarded a Victory Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal. He belonged to the VFW and the American Legion.
Donald is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanne of Largo, FL; a son, Michael Thomas of Clearwater, FL; his two daughters, Pamela Torgersen of Clearwater and Penny Jo Thomas of Salida, CO; two brothers, Richard Thomas of Schererville, IN and Eugene Thomas and his wife, Patricia of McKean, IL; three grandchildren; Eric Torgersen, Amanda Hannon and Samantha Thomas and two great grandchildren: Zachary and Zoey Hannon.
