Dorothy K. Neuman, 87, of Largo, FL, passed away at the Suncoast Hospice Mid Pinellas Care Center in Pinellas Park, FL, on Saturday, June 21, 2014. She was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
Dorothy was a very interesting and independent person. While she was a homemaker for most of her life, she also delivered trucks around the country for a transit company and she also cleaned houses. She traveled extensively in the United States and Germany.
She loved nature and was especially fond of birds. She was a wonderful gardener and would always be sure to feed the birds that came to her garden. She loved her family deeply and spoke often of her parents and her siblings. She also loved her children and her grandchildren. She helped a grandchild develop a love of collecting artifacts that is still very important to him. She really enjoyed the holidays, cookies (affectionately known as “The Cookie Monster”), and loved her chocolate.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Glen Edward Neuman; and her parents, Donald and Margaret Burnie. She is survived by sons, David Williams of Orlando, FL, and Mike Williams of MI; daughter, Dorothy Merrill of Pinellas Park; sister, Donna Googlin of MI; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Florida National Cemetery. She will be interred with her husband Glen in Section 611, Grave 1540.
