I personally felt I needed to write something on here but I didn’t know exactly what to write. So, after I thought about it I thought I would write a couple of childhood memories of my Uncle Jr.
Well, when I hear someone say his name as I know it, “Uncle Jr.” the first thing I think of is his jokes! He would walk up to me or plop down next to me on the couch, as he would with all of his family members and just start telling a joke, “did you hear about the…” or “did you hear the one about…” and of course his famous joke opener was, “there were 3 guysor blondes sitting next to eachother and one said…. But the sweet part is, that he told jokes to everyone! Even when I was a little kid he told age appropriate jokes. When I was little and he told a joke to an adult and I saw ithe would always say them softly and then that person would laugh outloud he would then come to me and whisper a little kids joke to me. When I got older I realized what he used to do and I thought that was so sweet of him because he didn’t want us kids to feel left out. Also, another good memory is at his and aunt Judy’s place on Water St. us kids called it, the yellow house He gave me a dark green t-shirt with the letters M.A.S.H on it and I had no clue what that was and he said “you don’t know the show Mash”? I said no then he made me sit on the couch and watch 2 recorded shows of it and mind you, I was only about 11 years old and was soooo bored and upset because Vicki, Joey and a kid from the neighborhood were playing in the yard and I wanted to go outside with them. But….after those two shows were done, I think he knew I was upset and he said he had a funny song for me to hear so he put an album on his stereo…yes, “album”. That was the first time I ever heard the song, “On top of spaghetti”.
Oh My God, he had me laughing and then Vicki, Joey and that kid came in and I said, “listen, you have to hear this song”, then we had him play about five times and laughed so much the whole time.
Another thing…he gave GREAT massages! Thanks to him, it’s hard for me to find actual relief from a massage, also, thanks to him, I LOVE the show Mash! I can’t get enough of it, I wish they played more repeats of it!
So, for those memories and many more, I want to say Thank You Uncle Jr.
You will be missed a lot!
PS…I think I got my sick sense of humor from him….Thank You for that as well because if I didn’t have a sense of humor I’d be in trouble. :
Well Uncle Junior is a one of a kind, the only man I know who quits drinking, but sits at the bar drinking ginger ale, and playing pitch. Always had one liners that were pretty funny. Can tell you some stories about the war. No matter what though, he always loves his family. My heart goes out to eveyone that was touched by this loss. You will always be missed
Met Morris at the Ludlow VFW back a few years ago. He was a wonderful and caring person. He will be missed by all who knew him.
You will always be in our thoughts.
I met moe at the vfw in ludlow I was the assistant manger there, and you could not ask for a nicer guy always had a joke to tell and Iam glad that I had a chance to know him , you will be missed moe .
Dear family and friends. It was a pleasure having Moe as a member of our post 3236. As his commander for a couple of years, I could not have asked for a more diligent and patriotic member. Moe was there for every event and parade. Whatever was asked of him he did with pride and without hesitation. Moe had been missed since he became ill and unable to attend meetings or otherwise participate. Rest in peace Moe.
You probably don’t remember me but we go back about 45 years or more when you used to live on water st in Palmer. We had some good times when our families got together. I remember we used to go out and shoot bats with your air gun and matches, sounds crazy but it was fun back then . Really sorry we never kept up over the years it sounds like you turned out to be an outstanding person, I’m sure your dad was real proud of his j.r. as we all are for your service to our country thank you very much . god bless…. rest in peace
I got to know Moe when he was married to my sister, Judy. Moe was an original guy and was always sharing his jokes with me. One thing I can say about Moe is that he had a very big heart and loved his country and family very much. I have many wonderful, funny memories of him! I remember one time when he and Judy came to visit us at our house in Keeseville and Judy told him he had enough to drink for one night so he hid his “cold ones” in the back of our toilet tank and then our toilet wouldn’t flush!!! I know that he is truly missed by his family but I know that he is in a wonderful place with many of his beloved family members.
i don’t know uncle jr as much as some people do, but i do know he was a great person that loved to laugh always saying jokes, he didnt hesitate one bit to help out for my wedding and i will always appreciate that, it was sad to see him get sick but even then he would laugh not knowing exactly what was going on. he will be missed, but i know he is with plenty of great people right now. rip uncle jr.
