Charles W. Crookes, 84, of Largo, FL passed away at the Wright Health and Rehab Center, Seminole, FL on July 24, 2007 of natural causes after being recently released from Bay Pines VA Medical Center, Bay Pines, FL. A native of Toledo, OH and a local resident since 2002, when he moved here from Toledo, OH; he was a renowned artist and woodcarver; a Episcopalian and a graduate of Waite High School in Toledo, OH, where his mother and sisters also graduated. During World War II, Charles served our nation in the US Army and was attached to ?Big Red One? serving in Germany. Preceded in death by his parents: William Stanley and Annie Crookes; a sister, Betty Studer and a brother-in-law, Irvine Studer, Charles is survived by his sister, Anita L. Laman of Largo, FL;brother in law, George Laman of Pinellas Park, FL three nephews; Charles Laman of Largo, FL; Roger Studer of Lewisberry, PA and Brian Studer of Swanton, OH and a niece, Wendy McAttee of Nashville, TN. It was my honor to serve Charles’ family at this time of need. As a retired United States Air Force man that served 32 years of service with the Air Force, I continue to serve veterans and their families. Charles was a artist and a gifted wood carver, and I really appreciate wood carvings.
