Veterans Funeral Care John Moran, Jr.

John L. Moran, Jr., 82, of Palm Harbor, died Monday, August 20, 2007 at St Mark’s Health Care Center in Palm Harbor.

He was born in Worcester, MA on July 5, 1925, the son of the late John L. and Anna Carroll Moran, Sr. and moved to Hartford, CT and later to Cleveland, OH where he graduated high school. John entered the Merchant Marines during World War II and was drafted in 1950 into the Army during the Korean War. He returned to Cleveland and married Mary Jo Potts, his bride for the last 54 years. Together, they moved to Charlotte, NC, back to Cleveland, and ultimately, to Detroit where he continued his employment with the former Microdot Corp., an automobile and aerospace parts company, retiring as President of their Everlock Fasteners manufacturing division. He retired to Ocala in 1992 and moved to Palm Harbor in 2002, and was an avid reader, golfer, and bridge player, and a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Clearwater.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo of Palm Harbor; his three sons: Michael of Elizabethtown, KY, Raymond and his wife, Annie, of Escore, MI, and James of Cass Lake, MI; and his five grandchildren: Carly, Holly, Nick, Tara, and Sean.

Memorial services were celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 at St. Mark’s Village, 2655 Nebraska Ave, Palm Harbor, FL with interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

Arrangements were entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care, Clearwater, FL.
