Iris,
I will never forget the time we shared together and how you came to school everyday with a smile. You touched the lives of so many young children. They and I will never forget you. You always told me I never had the answers to any of your questions and teased me by teaching me my first Spanish phrase Yo no say, nada! I miss you and am glad you are home.
Love, Bailey
Although I did not know her, I hope she finds peace and serenity

I have enjoyed working with Iris over her years at Eisenhower, first when she was an ESE assistant and then when she was in her ESOL position. We will miss her smile and her wonderful help to all the students, parents and teachers.
Iris, you were a shining star at Eisenhower! You were helpful to students, teachers, parents, and the community. Thank you for helping me test so many Spanish children, translate letters to parents, and interpret at meetings. I was always amazed at your never-ending energy and your smile through it all! You are greatly missed. God bless you, Iris. You were one-of-a-kind.
Iris will be greatly missed by all that knew her! She empowered all of us to be the best we could be.
I will always treasure my years spent with Iris. She was truly a special person and I’m so lucky to have known her. She will be so missed by her friends and co workers. She is in a better place now, although it is so hard for us to understand why this had to happen so early in her life. I love you, Irs.
Iris was truly a kind person, always with a smile and having an abundance of love for children. Her presence here at Eisenhower will be missed but her spirit and love will always be in our hearts.

This quote, from an unknown author, summarizes how I feel:
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal”.
May God be with you.

I am so very sorry for your lost. Iris was a very dear friend. And, just as you and the boys, I will miss her terrible. People like her come along once in a life time. She never judged anyone. When she passed she took a part of me with her.
I pray for you and the boys. Just try to remember she is in a better place and we all will see her again.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I rememebr working with Iris at Eisenhower and remember what a happy, outgoing person she was. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
You meant so much to all of us
You were special and that’s no lie
You brightened up the darkest day
And the cloudiest sky
Your smile alone warmed hearts
Your laugh was like music to hear
I would give absolutely anything
To have you well and standing near
Not a second passes
When you’re not on our minds
Your love we will never forget
The hurt will ease in time
Many tears I have seen and cried
They have all poured out like rain
I know that you are happy now
And no longer in any pain.
We all dearly miss you
Love Ellie May and Family

Philippians 3: 20-21

love allyson
Dear Iris,
Thank you for your friendship, your sweet smile which guided our many needs and your loving laugh which echoed your dedication. You affected so many people. We feel quite empty now because of your loss. Our memories will help to heal our pain. Thank you for always stepping up to help at Eisenhower Elementary. I never could seem to arrive as early as you, but sometimes we walked in to work together. When we rode buses as assistants, we would laugh that we felt we had already done a day’s work but instead we would hit the ground running full out. I remember the first time we met 14 years ago and you smoothly helped me learn a piece of equipment. You are a great teacher to us all. We will still be learning your lessons. Years later, the first school newsletter we produced and you translated was again easy and also fun: the “Fall Festival” translated to the “Falling Down Festival” and it was our inside joke. You made everything a joy. Even when the students were exasperating you, I could hear your love and devotion. They love you so much! And I am so proud of you for insisting some of our students’ parents be better parents, for not backing off but also being patient so all of our students’ needs were met. You were such a wonderful example. Even now, I know you are helping new bewildered arrivals in their transition: I was in the hospital during your funeral and one of the nurse’s mothers had passed away that morning and I knew you were right there extending your helping hands, arms and heart. When I told them about you, they were greatly comforted. It was great to share neighboring offices at work and live just down the street from you at home. We will miss you greatly around the lake as much as we miss you at Eisenhower. I love you Iris. Thank you for loving us all so much.
Dear Frank, Joey and Frankie, thank you so much for sharing Iris with us at Eisenhower. Many nights, she did not take my advice when I told her to leave her work and go home. I know she spent many hours at home doing extra translating and attended many meetings to benefit our school outside of work.I got to know you all even better through her many stories of the boys growing up, trips to Orlando and the boys’ triumphs in bowling. I often told her what a loving family you are. Frank, you were always so sweet to send roses on her birthday and your anniversary. You have all been so brave and strong. Let us all- your friends, family and neighbors- help you now in staying strong. Please let us know whatever we can do to help you go on. I’m looking forward to sharing wonderful memories, especially when I see you at Sweetbay Frankie. It can’t help but make us feel better, just like Iris. Despedida mi chica- until we meet again. Love, Sandi
I enjoyed working with Iris and miss her greatly. Thinking of you in this hard time.
I worked with Iris the 4 years I taught at Eisenhower. She was always so caring and did all she could to help her students be successful. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. I am keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless!
I worked with Iris years ago and she was a wonderful person. I am so sorry for your loss.
Iris, you made me happy every time I saw you during the time we worked together. You were always so funny and kind with the kids. You were really the heart of the school. I learned a lot from you, and I miss you every day. All my love to your family.
Iris, my dear friend, life will never be the same without you. There are so many memories; I do not know where to begin? I should perhaps begin with love you had for your children and unconditional willingness to help all of your students, their parents,
Frank, Frankie and Jose:
My deepest sympathies go out to all of you.
Below is a beautiful poem that may help to take a different view of the loss of a loved one.
GONE FROM MY SIGHT
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: ?There, she is gone!?
?Gone where??
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: ?There, she is gone!?, there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”
And that is dying.
Henry Van Dyke
May you find strength and courage in God’s love.
Maureen
