It is comforting to me knowing that the VA Baypines provided Rick with all that he needed living his last days. Rick was kept pain free, comfortable, Rick always had company so that he was not alone, and Hospice even provide a few fishing poles and a lb of squid bait that Rick enjoyed cutting up for us when we went fishing. That fishing night,God displayed a beautiful welcome heat lightening show in the skies for Rick to enjoy,a special welcome for Rick, with a beautiful cool salty breeze. A very nice welcome home I would say. It is comforting knowing, a few days later, Rick just went to sleep and went to heaven, peacefully, quietly. I shall always remember Rick, simply and with dignity preparing for his journey….And as Rick prepared for his,we enjoyed “the l-o-n-g walk home” too. It struck me as so very appropriate, the painted words on the wall just above and just below the painted rainbow with the path and patient footprints, The words: “Together We Walk” One Step At A Time” That was just across from Rick’s room. Now his footprint is on that path. And that is how we journey in life and in death. Geoff said it best, “No more forced marches Rick, no more forced marches, take a rest now. Rick, Thank you for serving our Country, protecting us, protecting The United States of America. Rest in Peace Rick Owen. Prayers of love and comfort to your Family and Friends.
