Veterans Funeral Care Rudolph Odermatt

Rudolph Robert Odermatt, 82, formerly of Tampa, and known to family and friends as “Ralph” or “Rudy”, left this world for his heavenly home on Friday, January 25, 2008. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Tom Teem of Wesley Chapel; his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sandi Odermatt of Tampa; four grandchildren, two sisters, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Svea.

Ralph was born in New Jersey to Swiss parents, but lived his life in south Florida as a young child until his parents moved back to their homeland of Switzerland. In 1945, Ralph joined the US Army and met his Finnish wife while stationed in Germany. He was a Korean War veteran and continued to serve the country he loved until his retirement from active duty in 1965. He then held a civilian position at Mac Dill Air Force Base until 1990. His hobby was photography, and he had been as active member of House of Hope Church in Tampa for over 30 years. After his wife’s death, he moved to the Wesley Chapel area to live with his daughter.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from Florida National Cemetery. Should friends desire, donations may be made to a church, charity of choice, of Hernando-Pasco Hospice in memory of Ralph. Arrangements entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care, 15381 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, Florida 33760.
