Eileen Loudfoot

Veterans Funeral Care Eileen Loudfoot

Eileen Arnold Loudfoot, 86, died peacefully after a long illness on February 7, 2008 at the Encore skilled nursing facility in Clearwater, FL.

She was born on May 15, 1921 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late Earl and Ruth Norton Prentice. A Western New York resident most of her life, she was a graduate of East High School in Buffalo, Fredonia Normal School and Fredonia State College where she received her Master’s degree in Music Education. She was a substitute teacher and later became a private piano and cello teacher. She played and taught well into her 80’s. She played in many instrumental quartets and ensembles and loved to sing. She was an avid reader and very active in the Unitarian Univeralist Church in Dunkirk. She was a director for several church choirs over the course of her adult life. Her love of music was rivaled only by her enjoyment of travel. In her senior years, she made Englewood, Florida her home, but traveled back to Fredonia for many annual visits.

She is survived by her second husband of 17 years, Victor Loudfoot of Clearwater, FL. She married Victor in May 1991 and lived in Sarasota, FL until they moved to an assisted living facility in Clearwater. She was married 43 years to her first husband, Dr. Charles D. Arnold, professor at Fredonia State College, who died in April 1983. Mother of Carolyn Gregory Keefe of Canastota, NY; Gail Raymond Lang of Lancaster, and Douglas Leah Arnold of Williamsville; grandmother of Sean Valerie Pearson of Oneida, NY; Jonathan Lang of Ashville, NC; Jessica Lang Grigorenko of Buffalo; Rachel and Elizabeth Arnold both of Williamsville; and sister of the late Norton Velma Prentice.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made in Eileen’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice.
